General Description

The chemical (2-methyl-1H-indol-3-yl)(pyridin-3-yl)methanone, also known as MI-503, is a small molecule inhibitor that targets the activity of the transcriptional coactivators p300/CBP. It has been shown to have potential anticancer effects, particularly in the treatment of various types of solid tumors such as lung, breast, and colon cancer. MI-503 works by inhibiting the interaction between p300/CBP and the transcription factor MYC, which is known to be dysregulated in many cancer types. This inhibition ultimately leads to the suppression of MYC-dependent gene expression and the induction of tumor cell death. Furthermore, MI-503 has been found to have synergistic effects when combined with other anticancer agents, making it a promising candidate for future cancer therapies.

The conformations of 3-pyridinoyl indoles, which are intermediates of 5-fluoropentyl-3-pyridinoyl indole, were investigated using their X-ray crystal structures. All derivatives existed as s-trans conformers. A pseudo-planar conformation was observed in the 2'-yl isomer of 3-pyridinoyl indoles. On the other hand, twisted conformations were observed in 3-pyridinoyl 2-methylindoles. The conformations of these compounds in solution were also investigated using VT-NMR.
