Use of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions to prepare 5-substituted isoxazoles is reported.Tetrahydrofuroisoxazole and tetrahydropyranoisoxazole give 4-hydroxyalkylisoxazoles upon treatment with conc.HCl.
