The article presented ethylene polymerization and ethylene/methyl 10-undecenoate copolymerization using nickel(II) and palladium(II) complexes. The complexes were derived from a bulky P,O chelating ligand. The catalysts employed for the polymerization studies were cationic nickel allyl complex and the palladium methyl complexes. It was concluded that the Ni(II) and Pd(II) complexes were active for the polymerization of ethylene but the Ni(II) allyl complex demonstrated very slow rates of initiation.
