General Description

2-Amino-3,5-dinitrobenzenesulfonic acid, also known as ADNS, is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C6H5N3O7S. It is a yellow solid that is soluble in water and ethanol. ADNS is commonly used as a reagent for the detection and quantification of aldehydes and ketones. It is also used as a component in explosives and propellants, particularly those used in small arms ammunition. ADNS has a variety of other industrial and research applications, including as a colorimetric reagent for detecting aromatic amines and as a precursor for the synthesis of other organic compounds.
