The synthesis and structure of amino-functionalized cyclopentadienyl vanadium complexes were studied. The catalytic behavior of some of the complexes toward butadiene was evaluated. Amino-functionalized cyclopentadienyl vanadium phosphine chloride complexes behaved much differently from their nonfunctionalized cyclopentadienyl derivatives. A cyclopentadienyl ligand with an amino-functionalized side chain acted as a bidentate ligand.
