The use of a ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP), for the synthesis of an electrophilic polymer, was discussed. The electrophilic was prepared using ROMP method and it was shown that amine nucleophiles could be introduced to the polymer. Monomers were required for the formation of the polymer that were equipped with two key features such as a polymerizable component and a site at which substitutions could be performed following polymerization. The results show that the target monomer became the 4,6-dichloro-1,3,5-triazine derivative.
