The invention discloses a series of triaryl boron fluorescent compounds and a nanometer aquagel fluorescent sulfydryl probe based on the triaryl boron fluorescent compounds. The triaryl boron fluorescent compounds are characterized by excellent selectivity to sulfydryl compounds, so that the triaryl boron fluorescent compounds can be used as fluorescent probes for detecting sulfydryl compounds in an organic solution or an organic-water mixed solution. The nanometer aquagel fluorescent sulfydryl probes based on the triaryl boron fluorescent compound can not only be used for detecting the sulfydryl compounds in an aqueous solution or a buffer solution, but also be used in sulfydryl compound single-photon or dual-photon fluorescent imaging in cells because of the availability of self-entering into the cells. The fluorescent probe has the advantages of high sensibility, fast response speed, good specificity, low biotoxicity, wide response range and the like.

A series of alkoxy and aryloxydimesitylboranes (Mes2BOR) has been synthesised, characterised and their 1H, 11B and 13C NMR data recorded.The corresponding data for fluorodimesitylborane is reported.As has been found for other dimesitylboryl systems, the mesityl 13C chemical shifts remain virtually unchanged with change in R.It is concluded that there is no B-aryl ? backbonding in Mes2BX systems and that B-X ? bonding increases in the order N>O>F>>C.
