4-Amino- and 4,6-diamino-hexopyranosides of the threo- and erythro-series have been synthesized from D-glucose via hex-2-enopyranosides.Further work along these lines led to an effective synthesis of forosamine, a 4-deoxy-4-amino sugar moiety of the spira
