Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
2-METHYL-D3-1,4-NAPHTHOQUINONE is used as a precursor for the synthesis of Vitamin K derivatives, which are essential for the production of blood clotting factors and proteins involved in bone metabolism. Its isotope-labeled nature allows for the study of metabolic pathways and the development of targeted therapies for various health conditions.
Used in Livestock and Pet Foods:
2-METHYL-D3-1,4-NAPHTHOQUINONE is used as a micronutrient in the livestock and pet food industry to ensure the proper functioning of the animals' blood clotting mechanisms and to support their overall bone health. The inclusion of Vitamin K3 in animal diets helps maintain their overall well-being and prevents deficiencies that could lead to health issues.
Used in Research and Development:
The isotope-labeled nature of 2-METHYL-D3-1,4-NAPHTHOQUINONE makes it a valuable tool in research and development, particularly in the fields of biochemistry and pharmacology. It can be used to study the metabolic pathways of Vitamin K and its role in various biological processes, as well as to develop new drugs and therapies targeting these pathways.
Used in Diagnostic Applications:
2-METHYL-D3-1,4-NAPHTHOQUINONE can be employed in diagnostic applications, where its isotope-labeled properties allow for the detection and monitoring of Vitamin K levels in biological samples. This can be particularly useful in assessing the nutritional status of individuals and identifying potential deficiencies or imbalances in their diet.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 5172-16-7 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 5,1,7 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 5172-16:
(6*5)+(5*1)+(4*7)+(3*2)+(2*1)+(1*6)=77
77 % 10 = 7
So 5172-16-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

A method for the quantitative determination of vitamin K1(20) (VK), an essential cofactor in the carboxylation of clotting factors, is presented. The assay is based on gas chromatography/electron impact mass/spectrometry. The preparation of deuterium-labelled vitamin K1(20) for use as an internal standard is described. The method involves extraction of VK from human plasma and its derivatization to the heptafluorobutyryl ester after reduction of one carbonyl group with zinc. The detection limit was found to be 1.0 pg and the limit of quantitation 2.0 pg ml-1 plasma. This permits the measurement of vitamin K1(20) even in small quantities of plasma, which is highly desirable in investigations dealing with clotting abnormalities in neonates and infants.
