Methods of attaching conductive oligomers to electrodes
-
, (2008/06/13)
The invention relates to nucleic acids covalently coupled to electrodes via conductive oligomers. More particularly, the invention is directed to the site-selective modification of nucleic acids with electron transfer moieties and electrodes to produce a new class of biomaterials, and to methods of making and using them.
Soluble ferrocene conjugates for incorporation into self-assembled monolayers

A series of phenylethynyl oligomers (I-V) possessing a ferrocene and thiol at each termini have been synthesized. These oligomers have been designed to overcome the inherent insolubility of this class of complexes by substitution at the phenyl groups with methyl and propoxy substituents. Several new reactions for preparing arenethiol-protected compounds are described. Interestingly, the generation of an arenethiol anion during base- or fluoride-catalyzed deprotection has been characterized.
Aryl and heteroaryl (phosphinylmethyl)phosphonate squalene synthetase inhibitors and method
-
, (2008/06/13)
Phosphonic acid squalene synthetase inhibitors are provided which are effective in lowering serum cholesterol and have the formula STR1 wherein m is 0 to 3, n is 1 to 5, Y1 and Y2 are H or halogen, R2, R3 and R4 are H, metal ion, C1 to C8 alkyl, C3 to C12 alkenyl, or prodrug ester, and R1 is a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group or a substituted phenyl group.
