Interaction of sparingly soluble alkane- or arenethiolatomercury(II) chlorides with potassium polypyrazolylborates in CH2Cl2 yields the title compounds as colourless air-stable solids which are nonelectrolyte and monomeric in solution at room temperature; characterisation by spectral measurements (IR in the solid state and 1H-, 13C-, and 199Hg NMR in solution) suggests that neutral complexes with the same coordination number are present in solution independent of the ligand or the organyl group. Fluxional behaviour at room temperature was evidenced in solution.
