A synthesis of oximes of 8-N-acylamino-p-menth-6-en-2-ones is performed starting from 3,7,7-trimethylbicyclo[4.1.0]hept-3-ene (3-carene). Treatment of oximes of p-mentha-6,8-dien-2-one (carvone) and of 3,7,7-trimethylbicyclo[4.1.0]hept-2-en-4-one (carenone) by sulfuric acid in nitriles gave identical amidoximes via a common intermediate, oxime of p-menth-6-en-2-on-8-yl cation.
