pH-Metric investigations on the reaction of Cu2+, Ni2+ and Co2+ with the monosodium salt of N-(2-hydroxy-5-sulfo)benzylglycine in 1:1 and 1:2 metal:ligand mixtures in aqueous solution at 25 deg C and at an ionic strength of 0.1 M (NaClO4) showed the existence of MHL, ML- and ML(OH)2-, and MHL, MH2L22-, MHL23- and ML24- metal complex species.The stoichiometric equilibrium constants have been evaulated directly from the titration curves, both while ignoring and considering, the effect of metal ion hydrolysis and the proportion of the metal ion distributed among the various species over the experimental pH range has also been determined in each case by a modified algebraic approach.
