The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing optically active 5-hydroxy-3-ketoesters with high yield and high stereoselectivity that can be used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. The purpose of the present invention is also to provide a manufacturing intermediate for a novel pharmaceutical product obtained using the method. A novel manufacturing method for obtaining an optically active 5-hydroxy-3-ketoester compound with high yield and high stereoselectivity by allowing a substituted nitrogen-containing 5-6 member heteroaromatic ring compound to coexist in the presence of an optically active binaphthol-titanium complex in an asymmetrical aldol reaction using a 1,3-diene compound; and a novel manufacturing intermediate compound having a crystalline form.
