Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 56375-96-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,6,3,7 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 56375-96:
(7*5)+(6*6)+(5*3)+(4*7)+(3*5)+(2*9)+(1*6)=153
153 % 10 = 3
So 56375-96-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Oxidation of α,β-enones and alkenes with oxone and sodium halides: A convenient laboratory preparation of chlorine and bromine
Dieter, R. Karl,Nice, Lois E.,Velu, Sadanandan E.
, p. 2377 - 2380 (2007/10/03)
Mixtures of oxone and sodium chloride or sodium bromide afford solutions of chlorine or bromine, respectively. These solutions effectively add chlorine and bromine to α,β-enones and alkenes. The method affords improved yields of 3-alkyl-2-halo-2-cycloalkenones which are sometimes difficult to prepare.
