Synthesis and structure of N'-(2-phenylaminobenzoyl)hydrazones of aromatic aldehydes, ketones, and α-dicarbonyl compounds

Condensation of 2-phenylaminobenzcarbohydrazine with aromatic aldehydes, ketones, and α-dicarbonyl compounds affords hydrazones that in crystalline state and in solutions form associates with the cis-amide group. The hydrazone fragment therein exists as EE′E″ isomer stabilized by intramolecular hydrogen bond.
