Solvent Yellow 28 is a synthetic organic dye characterized by its yellow to orange color in mineral oil. It is soluble in ethanol and toluene, but hardly soluble in water. When exposed to concentrated sulfuric acid, it turns red light brown, and upon dilution, it forms a dark brown solution with yellow brown precipitation. In hot concentrated hydrochloric acid, it forms a yellow brown solution, and in a 2% hot sodium hydroxide solution, it turns red light brown. It has a stable melting point and exhibits good light fastness, heat resistance, and sublimation properties.
