Amides are prevalent in nature and valuable functional compounds in agrochemical, pharmaceutical, and materials industries. In this work, we developed a selective and mild method for the synthesis of N-aryl amides. Starting from commercially available nitroarenes and acyl halides, N-aryl amides with good yields can be obtained in water. Especially in the process of transformation, Fe dust is the only reductant and additive, and the reaction can be easily performed on a large scale.

A one-pot two-step oxidative process has been developed for the tert-butyl hydroperoxide mediated transformation of aldehydes and amines into amides catalyzed by copper(I) iodide and an N-heterocyclic carbene. The process is additive-free and does not require the amine to be transformed into its hydrochloride salts. The method is simple and practicable, has a broad substrate scope, and uses economical, feasible, and abundant reagents.

A rare anion-π complex between bromide and a neutral receptor is reported and related receptor systems are studied with a series of anions. The interaction is observed in the solid state and in solution, and further evidence for it is obtained by a computational study. This journal is The Royal Society of Chemistry 2012.

A three-step synthesis of cyclohexane-1,3-dione (CHD) resin 6 on polystyrene resin is described. Resin 6 was used to prepare an amide library of high purity by microwave-assisted serial "capture and release" and can be recycled for this purpose. High-loading CHD resin 10 was also shown to scavenge allyl cations in solution.
