Synthesis of Analogs of Glutarimide Antibiotics with a Conjugated Enaminodiketone Fragment

Reactions of 4-(2,6-dioxocyclohexylcarbonylmethyl)piperidine-2,6-diones and 4-(2-chloro-6-oxo-1-cyclohexenylcarbonylmethyl)piperidine-2,6-diones with primary and secondary amines were used to prepare two series of isomeric analogs of glutarimide antibiotics with an enamine fragment in the side chain or in the ring.
