Synthesis and Biological Activities of 4-Arylformamidinothiosemicarbazone and 1,2,4-Thiadiazole Derivatives

Two new series of 4-arylformamidinothiosemicarbazones (II) and 3-arylamino-5-alkylidene/arylidene-hydrazino-1,2,4-thiadiazoles (VI) have been synthesised and screened for local anaesthetic, antifungal, larvicidal and insecticidal activities.The compounds with p-Cl, p-ethoxy or p-methoxy substituent in the phenyl ring show higher potency in both local anaesthetic and antifungal tests.None of the compounds exhibits any larvicidal or insecticidal activity.
