The reaction of butylammonium isopropyl xanthate with butylamine involves the preferential occurence of two consecutive reactions of first order (2 and 7 kJ/mole) with the formation of N,N'-dibutylthiourea as product.A reaction mechanism which agrees well with the data from kinetic measurements is proposed.
