Diphenylthallium(III) xanthates, Ph2Tl(S2COR), R = Me, Et, iso-Pr, Bz, have been prepared from Ph2TlBr and KS 2COR, and the crystal structure of Ph2Tl(S 2COMe) has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound displays a supramolecular structure consisting of Ph 2Tl(S2COMe) tectons, self-assembled through intermolecular Tl?S and Tl?O secondary bonds and Tl?π-phenyl interactions.
