Phenoxides react with masked halogenecarbonyl compounds, 1- or3- chloro-2 methoxycarbonylhydrazonopropylphosphonates 6b or 11 and 3-bromo-2 diethylamino-1-propylphosphonate 9, to give 1- or 3-aryloxy-2-oxopropylphosphonates of type 1 and 2.The aryloxyketones 1 and 2 thus obtained, when treated under acidic condition, are cyclodehydrated to the benzofurane phosphonates 3 and 4 which structures are fully determined using 31P, 1H and 13C nmr spectroscopy.
