Selective sulfonylation and oxosulfonylation of alkenes with sulfinates have been developed via anodic oxidation in an undivided cell. The novel electrosynthetic method provided β-keto sulfones and vinyl sulfones with good to excellent yields in the absence of any transition metal catalyst and oxidants. Mechanism studies show that two different pathways involved in these two transformations.
Electroreductive 4-Pyridylation of Electron-deficient Alkenes with Assistance of Ni(acac)2
Findlater, Michael,Li, Guigen,Li, Lijun,Li, Xinru,Xu, Kun,Zhang, Junqi,Zhang, Sheng
, p. 3570 - 3575 (2020/04/21)
An electroreductive 4-pyridylation of activated alkenes was developed in an undivided cell with the assistance of Ni(acac)2 (acac = acetylacetone). This novel protocol is compatible with a broad range of electron-poor alkenes, which are commonl
Addition/elimination reactions of ethylsulfonyl pyridines: Stereoselective synthesis of vinylpyridine allylic alcohols
O'Neil, Gregory W.,Drake, Nathan D.,Storvick, Jennifer M.
supporting information, p. 715 - 717 (2013/02/23)
2-(Phenylsulfonyl)ethyl pyridines can be coupled with aldehydes leading directly to sulfone-eliminated vinylpyridine allylic alcohols. These products are obtained in good yield and with high levels of stereocontrol.
