5-Hydroxypicoline is the common starting product for the reported synthesis of new picolinic derivatives with various oxidation degrees (methyl, N-oxide, alcohol, aldehyde, acid) and with their 5-position substituted by a linear alkoxy chain with n carbon atoms (n = 3,5,7,10,12,15 and 18).The parent carboxylic acids are then converted into activated esters which can be used as substrates in micellar catalysis studies. --- Key words: 5-hydroxypicoline / O-alkylation / 5-alkoxypicolinic derivatives
