The synthesis was realized of the previously unknown C17 retinoid ethyl-rac-(2E,4E,6E)-5-methyl-7-(2,6-dimethyl-6-ethoxycarbonyl-3-oxo-1-cyclohexenyl)-2,4,6-heptatrienoate by the C10 + C7 C17 scheme and the C15 retinoid ethyl-rac-(2E,4E)-3-methyl-5-(2,6-dimethyl-6-ethoxycarbonyl-3-oxo-1-cyclohexenyl)-2,4-pentadionoate by the C10 + C5 C15 scheme.
