PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aryl lithium compound and a method for producing a triaryl methanol and a triaryl methane via the aryl lithium compound. SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing an aryl lithium compound using a solvent in which the resultant aryl lithium compound is insoluble when an aryl halide compound is reacted with an organic lithium compound to be lithiated. There is also provided a method for producing a triaryl methanol in which the aryl lithium compound is produced and is successively reacted with a carbonate ester compound in situ without isolation of the aryl lithium compound.
