Starting from (S)-ethyl lactate and (S)-ethyl mandelate the homochiral hydrazonoyl chlorides 4b-d have been synthesised. Their base treatment promoted the in situ generation of the corresponding nitrilimines 5b-d, which gave the enantiopure title compound
