Upon heating, tricarbonyliron derivatives Fe(CO)3C7H7CH=CHR (R=COOMe, COC6H4OMe-p) gave the corresponding hexacarbonyl di-iron complexes.Under the same conditions the phenyl derivative (R=C6H5) gave a mixture of a binuclear complex and the metal hydride shift isomer.The anti configuration of the binuclear complexes was established by X-ray crystallography.
