Process for preparing substituted N-alkoxy-N-substituted-2,6-dinitroanilines

A process is described for reacting substituted N-alkoxy-2,6-dinitroanilines with a C1 -C3 alkyl halide, or a C3 -C4 alkenyl halide, in the presence of sodium hydride, to yield substituted N-alkoxy-N-substituted-2,6-dinitroanilines, which are active as herbicides.
