The IR spectra (the so-called trans band region) of 3-benzyl-7-methylbispidine (I), its 11,11-dideutero-(1-d2) and 2,2,4,4-tetradeutero-(I-d4) derivatives have been compared with the appropriate spectra of 1-methylpiperidine (VIII), 1-benzylpiperidine (IX) and 7,7-dideutero-1-benzylpiperidine (IX-d2) as well as the 1:1 mixture of VIII and IX.The 1H and 13C NMR spectra of I have been discussed.All spectra presented in this paper confirm that the title compound adopts the double-chair conformation with both substituents in equatorial position.
