Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
2-Benzo[d]1,3-dioxolen-5-yl-1,3-thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid is used as an anti-diabetic agent for its ability to lower blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity. This makes it a promising candidate for the development of new drugs for the treatment of diabetes and related metabolic disorders.
Used in Drug Development for Metabolic Disorders:
2-BENZO[D]1,3-DIOXOLEN-5-YL-1,3-THIAZOLIDINE-4-CARBOXYLIC ACID is also used in the development of new drugs for the treatment of various metabolic disorders due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These properties contribute to its potential therapeutic effects in managing and treating conditions associated with inflammation and oxidative stress.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 72678-96-7 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,2,6,7 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 72678-96:
(7*7)+(6*2)+(5*6)+(4*7)+(3*8)+(2*9)+(1*6)=167
167 % 10 = 7
So 72678-96-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis and antiproliferative activity of thiazolidine analogs for melanoma
Li, Wei,Lu, Yan,Wang, Zhao,Dalton, James T.,Miller, Duane D.
, p. 4113 - 4117 (2008/02/08)
We have previously described 2-aryl-thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid amides as a novel class of antiproliferative agents for prostate cancer. Screening these compounds with melanoma cell lines revealed that several of them have potent antiproliferative activity and selectivity against melanoma. To further improve the potency and selectivity, we synthesized a new series of analogs and tested them in two melanoma cell lines and fibroblast cells (negative controls). Comparison of anticancer effects of these compounds with a standard chemotherapeutic agent, sorafenib, showed that they are very effective in killing melanoma cells with low micromolar to nanomolar antiproliferative activity and provide us a new lead for developing potential drugs for melanoma.
