supporting information; experimental part, p. 18386 - 18392 (2010/04/25)
Two classes of laterally azo-bridged H-shaped ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLCs), incorporating azobenzene and disperse red 1 (DR-1) chromophores along the FLC polar axes, were synthesized and characterized by polarized light microscopy, differential sc
Long-range chiral induction in chemical systems with helical organization. Promesogenic monomers in the formation of poly(isocyanide)s and in the organization of liquid crystals

, p. 9126 - 9134 (2007/10/03)
The preparation of optically active poly(isocyanide)s derived from chiral promesogenic monomers is reported. Remarkably, the stereogenic carbon atom in the monomer is able to pass its chiral 'information' to the growing polymer backbone which is at least
Chiral liquid crystal materials as dopant for ferroelectric liquid crystal compositions
-
, (2008/06/13)
Chiral liquid crystal compounds for use as dopants to be mixed with a liquid crystal host material, which may or may not be composed of chiral molecules, to form ferroelectric liquid crystal compositions. The chiral liquid crystal compounds are represented by the following formula: STR1 wherein: R1 is a C2 to C10 alkyl group, R2 is a C2 to C8 alkyl group; A is either STR2 m is an integer of 1 or 2; n is an integer of 1 or 2; p and q are integers of 0 or 1, provided that when p=0, q=0, and p=1, q=1; and * and ** indicate, independently of each other, S- or R-stereoisomeric structure.
