Chemoselective nucleophilic additions to perfluorocyclopentene: An efficient building block to highly fluorinated molecules
Alvino, Ernest L.,Iacono, Scott T.,Jennings, Abby R.,Lochmaier, Emeline C.
, (2020)
A number of new fluorinated molecules were synthesized utilizing the chemoselective nucleophillic addition to perfluorocyclopentene (PFCP). These compounds were prepared under relatively mild conditions, requirering little or no further purification, and obtained in high yield. Furthermore, the compounds were designed to have reactive end groups for ease of incorporation into a polymer or material. As such, additional transformations were utilized to demonstrate this and are also presented. These molecules show the diverse pool of compounds and reactive monomers that can be prepared via this versatile starting material.
Reactions of Perfluorocycloalkenones with Nucleophiles

The reactions of perfluorocyclopent-2-en-1-one and perfluorocyclobutenone with various nucleophiles have been studied. The enones are attacked by nucleophiles at C-3 via an addition-elimination sequence to afford the 3-substituted perfluorinated enones. M
