The halide-bridged compounds 2 (Ar = C6H6, p-cymene, C6Me6; X = Cl, and Ar = C6H6; X = I) and 2 react with Lewis bases L, e.g.CO, tertiary phosphanes, or trimethyl phosphite, to give the mononuclear complexes ArMX2(L) (1 - 9).From these
BASIC METALS. XXIII. SYNTHESIS AND REACTIVITY OF LEWIS-BASE OSMIUM(0) COMPLEXES

The complexes C6H6OsL2 (L= PPh3, P(OMe)3) and C6H6OsLL' (L=PMe3, L'=C2H4 and C3H6) have been prepared by reduction of + and + with NaC10H8 in THF.These novel osmium(0) complexes are strong Lewis bases and react with NH4PF6 or MeI to form stable cation containing Os-H and Os-CH3 bonds; the reactions of the latter complexes are briefly discussed.
