The complexes (M=Pd, Pt; R1=COCH3, COOC2H5; R2=p-CH3OC6H4) have been obtained by reaction of arylhydrazonoyl chlorides with Pd(PPh3)4 and Pt(PPh3)3.In the presence of excess PPh3, Pt(PPh3)3 acts as a base and allows the formation of the arylazomethylentriphenylphosphoranes, .Sulphinato-S complexes, M(PPh3)2Cl(SO2CH2R3), Rh(PPh3)2Cl2(SO2CH2R3) and Ir(PPh3)2COCl2(SO2CH2R3) (M=Pd; Pt; R3=H, p-CH3C6H4, p-NO2C6H4) are formed by reaction of the appropriate sulphonyl chlorides with Pd(PPh3)4, Pt(PPh3)3, Rh(PPh3)3Cl and trans-IrCl(CO)(PPh3)2, respectively. The reactions of the new complexes with various bases have been studied, but in no case was a clean dehydrohalogenation obeserved.
