Liquid-crystalline compounds with a perfluorinated aromatic ring as the mesogenic core and a propylene carbonate unit were prepared and mixed with lithium bis(trifluoro-methanesulfonyl)-imide (LiTFSI). The self-assembly was driven by the interaction of th

The present invention provides a novel organic semiconductor material that affords efficient charge transport, under a wider range of conditions, by increasing the temperature stability and expanding the temperature range of the organic semiconductor mate
Mesomorphic Properties of Some New Fluorinated Liquid Crystals: the 4-n-Alkoxyperfluorobenzoate Series and Trifluoromethylbiphenyl Derivatives

, p. 413 - 430 (2007/10/02)
We describe here the synthesis, the mesomorphic and the dielectric properties of two families of fluorinated compounds: the 4-alkoxyperfluorobenzoic acid 4'-hydroxy-4-cyanobiphenyl esters and the 4-trifluoromethyl-4'-substituted biphenyl derivatives. Some compounds exhibit only a wide temperature nematic range, while others have a wide temperature smectic A range with or without a nematic mesophase. These compounds are possible additives to mixtures of interest for displays.
