766545-06-6 Usage
Chemical structure
A derivative of ethylenediamine with a methyl group and a 2-pyridinylmethyl group attached to the nitrogen atoms of the ethylenediamine backbone.
Chelating agent
Commonly used to form stable complexes with metal ions due to its ability to coordinate with multiple donor atoms.
Applications
Used in the production of pharmaceuticals and in the synthesis of coordination complexes for various applications in chemistry and biochemistry.
Toxicity
Handle with caution as it is toxic and can cause skin and eye irritation, as well as respiratory and digestive tract irritation upon exposure.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 766545-06-6 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 7,6,6,5,4 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 766545-06:
(8*7)+(7*6)+(6*6)+(5*5)+(4*4)+(3*5)+(2*0)+(1*6)=196
196 % 10 = 6
So 766545-06-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

We describe three significant advances in the use of thioureas as reporting elements for metal-responsive fluorescent chemosensors. First, on the basis of the crystal structure of a chemosensor analogue, we provide a deeper understanding of the details of the thiourea coordination environment. Second, we describe a new generation of chemosensors with higher affinities for Zn 2+ and Cd2+ than were observed for earlier probes, expanding the scope of this type of probe beyond Hg2+ detection. Third, we show that a thiourea-based chemosensor can be employed for fluorescence microscopy imaging of Hg2+ ion concentrations in living mammalian cells.
