Disclosed are substituted pyri(mi)din(thio)carboxamides of formula (I) and the salts thereof, m in formula (I) representing the numbers 0, 1, or 2, n representing numbers 0 or 1, A representing nitrogen or a CH group, Q representing oxygen or sulfur, R1 representing optionally substituted alkyl, R2 representing hydrogen or optionally substituted alkyl, R3 representing hydrogen or optionally substituted alkyl or optionally substituted alkanediyl along with R2, and R4 representing amino, alkyl comprising at least two carbon atoms, substituted alkyl, alkylamino, or dialkylamino, optionally substituted alkenyl or optionally substituted alkinyl, or cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, heterocyclyl, or heterocyclylalkyl, each of which is optionally substituted. Said substituted pyri(mi)din(thio)carboxamides are suitable for controlling plant and animal pests.
