The activation of 1,1-diphenyl-2-propyn-1-ol by complexes [RuCl(η6-p-cymene){η2-P,N-Ph2PCH 2P(=NR)Ph2}]+ (1a-d) results in the formation of the unusual tethered (η6-arene)-ruthenium(II) derivatives 2a-d, via an unprecedented iminophosphorane-allenylidene coupling process.
