Menthol derivatives, mixture thereof, and preparation method and applications of menthol derivatives
-
Paragraph 0089; 0092; 0093; 0094, (2018/10/19)
The invention discloses menthol derivatives, a mixture thereof, and a preparation method and applications of the menthol derivatives. Menthol carries out esterification reactions, then molecular design is performed to synthesize the menthol derivatives with a special molecular structure or a special group, and through the modification on the chemical structure, a novel material, which has a highermelting point and low volatility and is applied to temporary cultural relic reinforcement, is provided. The melting points of the menthol derivatives are gradient, the volatile speed of the menthol derivatives is slower than that of menthol, thus the removing of the menthol derivatives is controllable, and the requirements of cultural relic protection can be satisfied. The provided menthol derivatives are used to temporarily strengthen cultural relic onsite, and have a wide application range.
PROCESS FOR MAKING MENTHYL GLUTARATE

Page/Page column 5; 6, (2010/11/05)
A process for making menthyl glutarate is disclosed. The process comprises reacting excess glutaric acid and menthol to produce a mixture comprising monomenthyl glutarate (MMG) and dimenthyl glutarate (DMG), wherein the weight ratio of glutaric acid to menthol is from 1.0 to 1.6 and the resulting mixture comprises from 60 to 70 wt. % of MMG and from 30 to 40 wt.% of DMG
AQUEOUS COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING MONOESTER SALTS
-
Page/Page column 12-13, (2008/06/13)
Clear aqueous compositions comprising water, a hydrophobic organic compound, and from about 2 to about 50 wt.% of a solubilizer are disclosed. The solubilizer is an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt of a monoester of a saturated C6-C20 alcohol and a saturated dicarboxylic acid. The monoester salts are remarkably effective for solubilizing a wide variety of hydrophobic organic compounds in water to provide aqueous compositions that have excellent stability and outstanding clarity. The compositions are valuable for the cosmetic, agrochemical, coatings, pharmaceutical, and flavor and fragrance industries.
Process for making monomenthyl esters
-
Page/Page column 5-6, (2008/06/13)
A process for making monomenthyl esters of dicarboxylic acids is disclosed. Menthol reacts with a saturated, cyclic anhydride in the presence of a base catalyst under conditions effective to produce a mixture of mono- and bis-menthyl esters in which the molar ratio of mono- to bis-menthyl esters is enhanced compared with the ratio of esters produced in a similar uncatalyzed process.
