PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a completely new polyol compound in the production of a polyester resin, a polyurethane resin, a polycarbonate resin or the like. SOLUTION: There is provided a 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydronaphthalene-1,2,3,4-tetrol compound represented by the formula (1). (X and Y each independently represents an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, an alkylthio group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, a monoalkylamino group having an alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms or a dialkylamino group or a halogen atom; X and Y may be bonded to each other to form a saturated or unsaturated ring; Z represents H, a hydroxyl group, an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms or a halogen atom.)
