Synthesis of N-glycosylated pyridines as new antiviral agents
Ibrahim,Elgemeie,Abbasi,Abbas,Elbadawi,Attia
, p. 1415 - 1423 (1995)
A series of 3-cyanopyridine glycosides have been synthesized and evaluated for their inhibitory activity against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) replication in MT-4 cells. Among the 3-cyanopyridine glycosides 6-(p- methylphenyl) and 6-(p-aminophenyl) were the most selective inhibitors of HIV replication.
Malononitriles & Cyanoesters : Part VI - Synthesis of New Biologically Active Cyanopyridines

, p. 147 - 149 (2007/10/02)
3-(2'-Furyl)- and 3-(2'-thienyl)-acrylophenones (I) react with malononitrile in the presence of ammonium acetate to give 2-amino-3-cyano-4,6-disubstituted-pyridines (II).The latter are hydrolysed with alkali to give the corresponding nicotinamides (IV).Th
