Aplified Image Recording in Liquid Crystal Media by Means of Photochemically Triggered Phase Transition

Over 100 times amplified image recording was achieved by means of reading out nematic isotropic phase transition of liquid crystal induced by partial trans->cis photoisomerization of a small amount (up to 5 molpercent) of 4-butyl-4'-methoxyazobenzene mixed with 4-cyano-4'-n-pentylbiphenyl.
