Over 100 times amplified image recording was achieved by means of reading out nematic isotropic phase transition of liquid crystal induced by partial trans->cis photoisomerization of a small amount (up to 5 molpercent) of 4-butyl-4'-methoxyazobenzene mixed with 4-cyano-4'-n-pentylbiphenyl.
