Flash Vacuum Thermolysis of 1,5-bis-(1-chloroethenyl)anthracene (6) gives cyclopent[hi]aceanthrylene (2) which at T ≥ 900°C rearranges to cyclopent[hi]acephenanthrylene (1). This conversion occurs more readily than that of the monocyclopenta-fused aceanthrylene to acephenanthrylene.
