Syntheses of Agrocinopine A and B

The syntheses of the unusual phosphodiester-bridged oligosaccharides agrocinopine A and B are achieved following a modified phosphotriester approach.The regiospecifically protected derivatives of sucrose 6, arabinose 10, and fructose 14 are treated with 2,2,2-trichloroethyl phosphorodichloridate to give the corresponding diester triethylammonium phosphates 16, 17, and 18, respectively.Subsequent to intermediate activation these salts were condensed with the corresponding sugar alcohol component along two different pathways, and both gave the protected derivatives of agrocinopine A and B 19 and 20.
