The complex fac->A A = Cl04- or PF6-> reacts with ONMe3 in CH2Cl2 to give cis->A, and with dppm in refluxing acetone, to give cis,trans-2>A.Irradiation with UV light of the latter gives the mono-carbonyl mer>A, containing one chelated and one monoden-tated dppm.Although the fac-PF6, reacted with fac- and TlPF6, to give the binuclear bridged species 2(μ-P-P)>(PF6)2, attempts to use complexes with monodentated dppm as ligands to form compounds of higher nuclearity resulted in splitting of the dppm bridges.
