(+/-)-δ-Elemene is a racemic sesquiterpene hydrocarbon formed through the temperature-dependent rearrangement of germacrene C, as observed in the liverwort *Preissia quadrata*. (+/-)-δ-elemene is one of several sesquiterpenes identified in the species, alongside other notable constituents such as germacrene D, β-caryophyllene, and cubebol. Its formation highlights the dynamic nature of sesquiterpene chemistry under varying conditions. Other names for (+/-)-δ-elemene may include **racemic δ-elemene** or simply **δ-elemene** when referring to the non-enantiopure form.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 80796-88-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 8,0,7,9 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 80796-88:
(7*8)+(6*0)+(5*7)+(4*9)+(3*6)+(2*8)+(1*8)=169
169 % 10 = 9
So 80796-88-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

The sesquiterpene constituents of the liverwort Preissia quadrata

Koenig, Wilfried A.,Buelow, Nils,Fricke, Christiane,Melching, Stephanie,Rieck, Angela,Muhle, Hermann

, p. 629 - 633 (1996)

The labile sesquiterpene hydrocarbon germacrene C is the main constituent of a chemotype of the liverworth Preissia quadrata collected in Southern Germany. Its temperature dependent rearrangement to racemic δ- elemene is observed by capillary gas chromatography using cyclodextrins as chiral stationary phases. In addition, the rarely found ent-sesquiterpenes (+)-germacrene D, (+)-trans-β-caryophyllene, (+)-β-caryophylleneoxide, (+)- cubebol and racemic alismol [1β,5α-guaia-6,10(15)-dien-4-ol] were identified an major constituents using spectroscopic methods and enantioselective gas chromatography. Minor constituents are (+)-α-copaene, (+)-δ-selinene, (-)-δ-cadinene, germacrene B and (-)-cascarilladiene (eudesma-5,7-diene).

Reaction of elemol with acetic acid/perchloric acid: Characterization of a novel oxide and (+)-β-cyperone

Wahidulla, Solimabi,Govenkar, Mangala Babu,Paknikar, Sashikumar Keshav

, p. 496 - 501 (2007/10/03)

The minor unidentified compounds of the acetic acid/perchloric acid dehydration of elemol (1) were fully characterized. The structure and relative configuration of the less polar fragrant compound 2, named elemoxide, was deduced by ID- and 2D-NMR data inc
