Ammonium 7H-purin-6-yl 1-thio-β-D-glucopyranosiduronate (1), a good substrate of β-glucuronidase, causes a 22percent decrease in the growth of L1210 cells while not affecting the growth of Chinese hamster lung fibroblasts from a nontumor line. 7H-Purin-6-yl 1-thio-β-D-glucopyranosiduronamide (2), a poor substrate of β-glucuronidase, has no effect on the growth of either cell type.
